"...More than your typical reissue, Acoustech's efforts with these 3-channel work tapes might almost be described as a restoration project...The results are stunning." - Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound,

Analogue Productions'  Nat "King" Cole Reissues WIN A Positive Feedback  Brutus Award!

"The double 45rpm cut results in cleaner transients and greater cut-to-cut consistency as the cut never comes close to the smaller inner groove area radii. If you already own the DCC, should you make the investment in this reissue? I’d say yes. It’s as good as you will ever hear this classic album and while today we think of every new reissue as always being available, don’t count on it! Get this while you can." - Michael Fremer Music 10/10, Sound 10/10

Love is indeed the thing on the appropriately titled 1957 album which finds the incomparable Nat King Cole backed by heavenly strings on a fine 12-song set that marked the first collaboration between the singer (now skewing toward ballad work and away from jazz) and superb arranger Gordon Jenkins.

Featuring such legendary classics as "Stardust" and "When I Fall In Love," Love Is The Thing topped the charts upon its release and continues to enchant listeners to this day.

Never before has this record sounded so sumptuous, with every detail and nuance restored in a manner that places you in the recording studio with ColeMastered from the original three-track analog master tapes at Acoustech by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray for an unparalleled sonic experience!

At the time of the record's release, Cole's only real rival for excellence came via Frank Sinatra. Yet Cole proves he's The Voice's equal throughout, turning in performances that make this album one of the greatest vocal albums ever made. Featuring such legendary classics as "Stardust" and "When I Fall In Love," Love Is The Thing topped the charts upon its release and continues to enchant listeners to this day. Few, if any, singers handle and treat ballads with such ease, emotionalism, and depth as Cole does here.

Never before has this record sounded so rich, with every detail and nuance restored in a manner that places you in the recording studio with Cole. Mastered from the original three-track analog master tapes at Acoustech by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray for an unparalleled sonic experience, this is a truly incredible audiophile pressing. No expense was spared in the production or mastering efforts.

Also included with this deluxe reissue is a striking six-panel booklet complete with rare photos, a 2,800-word essay by Chris Hall about the album, and a 1,200-word reflection by Michael Fremer about the remastering process. Audiophile delights, and vocal albums, don't come more definitive than this!

...Cole's voice is closely-miked, producing the sensation of a giant, solid, three-dimensional apparition between the speakers. Playing the opener, 'When I Fall in Love,' for a visitor inevitably results in bulging eyes of disbelief and involuntary sighs and 'wow!'s. It never fails...The double 45 RPM...it's as good as you will ever hear this classic album and while today we think of every new reissue as always being available, don't count on it! Get this while you can...I wouldn't go through life without a copy of Love is the Thing and this one is easily the best yet and probably the best you'll ever hear or be able to buy unless the master tape ends up on the auction block." Music = 10/11; Sound = 10/11 - Michael Fremer
