It has a truly wonderful midrange that lavishes richness and detail on voices and instruments and in doing so gives recordings a sense of spaciousness and three dimensionality that is immensely rewarding .The AT33PTG/II does deliver a meaningful boost in performance , and the extra liveliness and control that the Microline equipeed cartridge can provide makes this a very fine product that represents an impressive bargain at the £449 resonable asking price - 5/5 HIFI Choice Oct 2015
I found the AT33 a superb moving-coil cartridge that I could happily live with, enjoying each record I placed under its stylus. It brought out more of what’s embedded in the grooves of my LPs than any MC in its price range that I’ve heard. It also made each album sound much more realistic than has any entry-level MC cartridge I’ve heard - Soundstage
AT33 design is over 30 years old and visually very little has changed, the PTG/II version of the famed cartridge boasts a reduced mass and lowered impedance from previous incarnations, while the gold-plated boron cantilever has been shortened. This revamp achieves a meaningful boost in performance with the extra liveliness and control that a MicroLinear stylus-equipped cartridge can provide. There are no signs of distortion or hardening as it moves towards the centre of a record and the low noise floor is usefully resistant to minor damage or debris on vinyl. An Impressive option at an attractive price. Hifi News 2015/2016 Best Pick Up Award
AT manufactures outstanding phono cartridges that out perform just about everything in their price range. This cartridge is no exception. Solid and quiet throughout the audio spectrum, it often has me thinking I'm in the studio with the musicians. At this price, it's an absolute steal! LP Review
Dual Moving Coil Stereo Cartridge with Micro Linear Stylus
Advanced nude tapered boron and weight reduction
This model succeeds in thinning down and shortening the cantilever, compared to the AT33PTG.
The coil impedance is also refined from 17W to 10W.
We realized significant weight reduction of the vibration system and successfully improved the basic performance and sound quality of the cartridge.
High performance and long-life MicroLinear™ stylus
MicroLinear™ (ML) is a specially polished line contact stylus. This has better high range performance than the conical or elliptical stylus due to its small curvature radius and realizes low distortion and expanding high range reproduction even when playing at the inner circumference of records. And the constancy of the line contact shape is one of its main features with an average product lifetime of around 1000 hours.
The AT33PTG/II is presently on my deck, and this cart has got me second guessing everything about price vs performance. Full and rich, lively and exciting, a natural warmth that makes me want to get back to listening each time I have a few spare minutes - am I in love?
Every album I played was enjoyable, but the ones I knew would sound great did, just as I’d expected them to. A top-notch MC will marry all its own strengths -- speed, dynamics, the breath of life -- to the top attributes of a good moving-magnet cartridge: harmonic richness and a lovely midrange. Once again, the AT33 passed with high grades.

Set up on the SME IV arm was a doddle, tracking is perfect and nothing upsets it and like the OC9 it runs very quietly in the groove
