Friday Music - FRM-9720 - 180 Gram Virgin Vnyl - Pressed at RTI
By the time of the recording of Blood Sweat and Tear's self-titled second album, the group featured just five of the original eight members from their 1968 debut Child Is Father to The Man. Most notably chief singer/songwriter Al Kooper was replaced by singer David Clayton Thomas.
Notwithstanding these setbacks, the album became an absolute smash and the band's most successful to date, peaking at #1 on the U.S. charts for seven weeks and remaining in the Top 40 for 66 weeks. Big band arrangements with rock pretentions abound on "And When I Die," "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and "Spinning Wheel," ultimately adding up to a 1970 Grammy for Album of the Year!
