The English pianist Matthew Bourne, born in 1977, is a frontier worker. In addition to awards such as the BBC Radio Jazz Award in the section "Jazz Innovation" (2002), collaborations with artists such as John Zorn, Barre Phillips, Amon Tobin, Annette Peacock, Nils Frahm or Nostalgia 77 and works with a piano trio and a Proto-metal band.

In 2012, Bourne released the acclaimed, personal, and intense piano album "Montauk Variations," which put fragility and romance at the center of his playing. It was Bournes solo studio debut. This was followed by the two synthesizer-based works »Radioland: Radio-Activity Revisited« (2015) with Frank Vigroux and Moogmemory« (2016). The solo piano album »Isotach« follows on again Montauk Variations.

Bourne picked it up at home, in the rural remoteness of North Yorkshire, where his instrument is placed so that he can see from the window overlooking the surrounding moorland. The pieces are characterized by skeletonized piano motifs, frugal cello arrangements and spatiality. The album title (engl .: wind speed) is due to the extreme weather conditions that prevailed during the recordings. Who listens exactly, hears away completely wind and rain rushing.
