Feathers" 2014 was the second album of the British sound artist and trained violin and piano virtuoso Poppy Ackroyd. Based on Blüthner grand piano, violin and field recordings alone, "Feathers" added over a dozen other keyboard instruments from the 16th to the 19th century, such as clavichord, harpsichord, spinet and harmonium.

These were provided to her at the Keyboard Museum in Edinburgh. However, Ackroyd's unconventional approach of not only playing instruments, but also producing sounds by tapping, brushing, plucking or stroking, remained unchanged in the second release. For example, she stroked strings of instruments with quills. There were also recordings of pedal noises or the operation of the registers at the harpsichord.

Partly Ackroyd crawled right into the instruments to get the sounds he wanted. From this hodgepodge, Ackroyd created eight dreamy, well-sounding and pleasantly flowing miniatures that create an atmospheric bridge between neo-classical piano music and an analogue ambient.
