Cellist Anja Thauer is backed by the Tschechiche Philharmonic Prag conducted by Zdenek Macal.
"Miss Thauer’s tone has considerable range. It is not basically as golden as some others (though it is always good) but its quality suits the frequent vigour of her attack, it can be beautifully withdrawn (as around bar 150 of the first movement) and when she is accompanying a woodwind tune she scales it down almost to nothing at all, yet manages to keep the figuration perfectly clear. Her technique is triumphant so the most difficult double-stopping at speed is perfectly tuned and completely assured.
