With his music, Roman Rofalski is about the fusion of European art music from the late 19th century and American jazz into a fresh and interactive form of trios. The three musicians entertained the audiences in the studio concert in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere with their unpredictable, wide-ranging and flexible jazz. In the live performance the musicians see the possibility to reinvent existing songs and to develop again as a band. The unique circumstances of the recording, the certainty that every tone is unchangingly captured, the novel Rofalski Trio has taken over to play an incomparable studio concert with a lot of energy

Roman Rofalski - piano
Johannes Felscher - double bass
Philippe Lemm - drums

Recordings on May 6, 2014 at Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

In the meantime, the title "Studio Concert" of the LP series from Bauer Studios is doubly free for two things: first-class analog direct-cut recordings in the live concert, and original top jazz by top musicians. Also the latest album of the series, with the Roman-Rofalski-Trio, fulfills all these expectations flawlessly. This trio is a conventional jazz trio: piano, drums and double bass.     But if you read through the title list, you will soon notice that it is unconventional: Franz Schubert 's "Das Wegweiser" is followed by a self - composed by the German pianist Rofalski, and Maurice Ravel' s "Le Gibet" Century, and finally a radiohead cover: "Lucky". In summary, this confusing spectrum is characterized by the very own interpretation style of the trio:

Jazz is, quite clearly, but also with the unmistakable note of the through-composed, cleverly constructed construct. The pre-composed basis and the improvised solo often go so smoothly and effortlessly into each other that one can never be sure where the limits are. Similarly, the boundaries between melody and accompaniment, bass and drums are often more than just a rhythm group. Four tracks that take you on a truly magical journey, leaving all categories behind, captured in a sound quality that is second to none The pre-composed basis and the improvised solo often go so smoothly and effortlessly into each other that one can never be sure where the limits are.
