Neu Klang - NLP4164 - 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl - AAA 100% Analogue
500 Numbered Limited Edition - Pressed at Pallas Germany - Live Direct to 2 Track
The "studio concert" concept is not a novelty for Katharina Maschmeyer and her quartet. In April 2015, the musicians recorded a studio concert record in Bauer Studios ( NLP4120 ). Two years later, they return to Bauer Studios, this time with the legendary percussionist Nippy Noya as guest.
The challenge is great: the program consists of the reinterpretation of the unique and complex "A Love Supreme" suite by John Coltrane , which the Ka Ma Quartet also released as a studio on the label Neuklang.
A post-production is not possible, the artists must show their professionalism and their talents at the first attempt. An impressive concert, now under the best quality conditions recorded by the sound master Philipp Heck with our Studer A 820 tape machine.
"Missed the adorierten Suite ,, A Love Supreme" by John Coltrane on their own individual worlds of experience a musical stamp, which is far away from the acoustic sound image of the target. Katharina Maschmeyer "
- Jazz Podium
"With her ingeniously chasing post-fusion album, Katharina Maschmeyer, with her delicately and unusually playful KaMa Quartet, impressively impresses a bridge from Coltranes time into today and positions her band as a strong collective in German jazz." - Olaf Maikopf (Jazzthetik / Germanyradio Culture)
"The high - caliber German quartet has already impressively demonstrated on 4 phonograms how much creativity and refreshing originality is in the band structure, so it 's more than okay to be on the current CD with an" A Tribute To John Coltrane " 4 titles of the spirituality and power of the century musician. The project is perfectly accomplished and overwhelmed with its furious improvisations and its eruptive energy explosions. " - Magazine" CONCERTO "
