Ozella's latest release, Cycle, features two outstanding Azerbaijani jazz musicians: Rain Sultanov on the soprano saxophone and Isfar Sarabski on the organ and piano (often in fact at the same time). In the Church of the Redeemer in Baku, the two embarked on a meditative journey of improvisation, the result of which is the cycle of life in seven phases, from embryo to reincarnation, in seven pieces of music. The sacral sound and reverberation chamber, the majestic spherical (and extremely tastefully registered by Sarabski) organ, the ethereal saxophone and the pearling piano melodies come together here to a calm-flowing and barely noticeable gradually changing musical experience, which, despite all the sound always keeps the sharp eye for details and tunes. Exceptional and exceptionally good!
