Clearaudio / Deutsche Grammophon DG 2530 112 - 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl - Pressed in Germany
The Clearaudio re-issue had a gorgeous 3D soundstage. When I closed my eyes I could locate the individual instruments in space like in a live performance. The dynamics were excellent. Individual instruments, piano, violins, flute and bass all sounded startlingly lifelike. In short, I would buy this edition for myself.Postieve Feedback
Martha Argerich - Piano - Tschaikowsky-klavierkonzert Nr.1 B-Moll
Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto is one of the most popular compositions by the composer and one of the most popular piano concertos in general. One of the reasons for this is that the melodies keep coming in the course of this concerto, proving once again what an ingenious composer of melodies Tchaikovsky was. Another one is that pianists have always loved this concerto because it offers them an ideal vehicle to scintillate. The main inspiration for this concerto was Robert Schumann's piano concerto, but also Russian influences (melodies, rhythms, atmosphere).
Martha Argerich is an ideal pianist for this smashing concerto. There are several recordings of this concerto played by Martha Argerich on the market. This interpretation by Charles Dutoit and the Royal Philharmonica Orchestra has an almost genteel and operatic touch.
