Mahler's "Symphony No. 7", as in 1904--1905 years, a total of five full-song music, on September 19, 1908 by the premiere of Mahler conductor. Among the second and fourth movement due to "Nocturne" heading, it is also called "Nocturne" symphony.
However, in practice the first four movements also have the atmosphere of the night, until the fifth movement was transformed into brilliant daylight-like atmosphere, and a gorgeous, spectacular and dramatic tension, and the first four movements formed a strong contrast.
The album included between November-December 1985 Berrnstein command of the New York Philharmonic's live recording, Venue for the then Avery Fisher Hall (2015 renamed the David Geffen Hall). Bernsteinn has always been to interpret the famously Mahler, in this piece in the mood for Nocturne portrayed on ulterior motives, and then with the New York Philharmonic last movement to show the strength, bringing clever transforms
"The slow tempo for the opening of the Seventh lends bounding energy to the Allegro when it arrives but there is a beautiful stillness for the central interlude. The ending is clamoous and fundamentally optimistic. The first Nachtmusik is full of light and shade with expertly played solo contributions, and you really get the feeling that Bernstein is enjoying himself for the first trio section." - Music Web-International
