The protective plate is an accessory for the VC-E, which can be used optionally. It is included by default in the packaging of a new VC-E. The protective plate can protect the underside of the record from warm air leaving the ventilation outlet.

In regular cleaning scenarios it is not necessary to use the protective plate. However, when cleaning many records in a row (8-10 in a row), and under certain air conditions (warm temperature and/or high humidity) steam from the ventilation outlet can become an issue. If this is the case, place the protective plate on top of the base plate of the clamp. This way the bottom of the vinyl record is protected from the steam/moisture of the ventilation outlet and the vinyl record will stay dry
