LP's do not get better than this musically and sonically.Unbelievable recording from Capitol. I mean who would have thought? Its right up there with anything I have heard. A sonic knockout 5/5LPReview
Capitol promised "A Thrilling Experience In Stereo Sound" on the 1957 two-track tape of this recording. Cisco fulfills this promise on this new 180-gram LP, with sound that surpasses the original. Recorded during the Summer of '56 at Samuel Goldwyn Studio's Stage 7, this record proved to all of the skeptics that classical music in Hollywood was alive and well in the 50s. Capitol combined instruments with Ernst von Dohnanyi's sublime Variations On A Nursery Tune.
On both sides of this amazing disc, conductor Felix Slatkin coaxes a level of inspiration from an orchestra culled from Hollywood's best studio musicians that is unheard of in today's recordings.
