“Meet my new best friend, the Spin Clean Record Washing System. The results speak for themselves-less noise means more resolved music. Cleaner surfaces means a gain in perceived dynamic range. Spin Clean just announced a new MK II version. No doubt a great device made even better!”– Neil Gader, The Absolute Sound
"It's cheap and it really, really works...I cleaned some dirty, fingerprint-encrusted records, and when I removed them from the vat, all dirt and fingerprints were gone... not everyone wants to spend hundreds of bucks on a vacuum machine, and the Spin-Clean got the job done!"
– Michael Fremer, Stereophile
If you have a turntable and you don’t have a Spin Clean, you need one. If you’re a maniacal LP collector with a top of the line RCM and you don’t have a Spin Clean, you need one too. This is an accessory that no vinyl lover should be without - Tone Audio
This manually operated vat-type cleaning machine is the least expensive absolute necessity for any vinyl spinner. A record cleaning machine is 100% mandatory even if you only buy new records, but if you are a crate digger, you cannot live without one. The Spin Clean requires hand rotation but it gets the dirt off the records and suspends it in a ball that drops to the bottom of the vat. It works as advertised. Let your records dry in a dish drainer and you'll know what clean means.
"Sublimely easy, there's nothing to plug in...Does it work? Does it ever!"

"The Spin Clean is an effective remover of bacon-frying noises. The pops and crackles that plague 'VG' ['Very Good'] eBay albums are generally reduced..."
"A sure sign of its effectiveness is the sheer amount of dark grey gak that lines the bottom of the yellow bath after working on just a few 'clean-ish' albums; if all that smoky residue was on the disc, no wonder it sounded like the musicians were standing round a bonfire."

It is nevertheless a safe bet that 99%+ % of Audiophiles & Record Collectors would agree that LPs shouldn't be stored in plain paper sleeves.
Cheap, non-acid-free paper sleeves degrade with time. Paper is derived from the cell wall of plants; lignin, one of the chemicals contained in the cell walls, is unstable and light sensitive and decomposes into acidic products. While bleaching removes the lignin, the paper making process produces other detrimental byproducts such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. Producing true, acid-free paper (pH >6) requires buffering with neutralizing chemicals. Paper sleeves are also hygroscopic (water absorbing) and as a consequence facilitate the growth of mold or fungus on the LP.The rationale for storing and preserving vinyl records in high quality, chemically inert, inner sleeves includes:Neutralizing the record's static charge and preventing static buildup when pulling the LP out of the record sleeve Preventing the record jacket or dirt from scratching the record
Preventing dust from sticking or becoming embedded in the record

"I've been playing records for 50 years and cutting record masters for almost 40. I have an extensive record collection and love vinyl as much as I ever did. I have used other record cleaners, but The Disc Doctor's products are, in my opinion, without peer. I have noticed vast improvement even with records that looked relatively clean before cleaning. I clean every record now before playing. I can't put into words how much more involving it makes my record listening. Do yourself a favor and stop thinking about ordering this stuff and do it! You won't be disappointed." - Kevin Gray, Owner, Cohearent Audio, LLC
"I use the Disc Doctor's fluid & brushes...I like this fluid a lot...these are my favorite brushes." - Michael Fremer, Editor, musicangle.com & Senior Contributing Editor, Stereophile
